Intervention
The Avon School District utilizes a multi-tiered system of supports, or response to intervention (RTI) framework, for the academic support of identified students across the spectrum of learning. Research-based instructional strategies and differentiation are implemented to offer strategic intervention for targeted student needs in deficit recovery as well as gifts and/or talents. Ongoing progress monitoring takes place to ensure student growth in the identified areas of need.
Intensive intervention is provided to students who are identified through the Intervention & Referral Services (I&RS) to support academic, behavior, and/or health needs. The I&RS committee meets throughout the year to review referred students and develop an action plan with interventions to support improved student learning. A collaborative and team-oriented approach to supporting student needs is established through a partnership of teachers, specialists, parents, and students.
